Concare’s Business Solutions
Enterprise management is a complex, multi-layered responsibility for large and small firms alike. Currently, Oracle and SAP dominate the market with intuitive software that helps companies manage remote branches of their businesses.
Concare’s custom projects are similarly intricate. However, no matter the complexity of the project, we believe its components should mirror a manufacturing process. In other words, manpower, materials and equipment should unite in a set sequence to produce a finished product. It is managing this process well that separates the professional firms from the bankrupt ones.
In the 1990’s, Concare CEO Ron Puszynski recognized the need for enterprise management tools to improve the business side of the specialty coatings industry. While serving as President of the Polymer Coatings & Surfacing Institute, Ron witnessed master craftsmen whose businesses failed, not from a lack of technical expertise but due to deficient management resources. Determined to pre-empt a similar situation at Concare, Ron investigated several alternatives before hitting pay dirt.
Concare’s Management Information System (CMIS) is an enterprise management tool that fuses key business functions without using “patches” between various software programs. From initial phone inquiries to billing, the CMIS system integrates every business aspect to deliver consistent results to Concare customers.
For example, once a client’s information is entered into the CMIS database, it can be instantly used to track communications, schedule a project or create a proposal. CMIS estimates are then calculated from material and labor components, each of which have been entered into the system separately and meticulously. Thanks to the flexibility of CMIS, Concare’s proposals include not just the necessary combination of materials and labor, but also in the most economical arrangement possible for the customer.
After a client agrees to a project’s scope of work, the Concare project estimator’s information is available to the Operations Department. At this point, supplies can be ordered and scheduling set – again, all through CMIS. Because all related project information is universally shared throughout the company, mistakes are reduced and delays in responding to customer requests are minimized. Finally, after a project’s completion, billing can be prepared, final variance details completed and job reports organized all with the click of a mouse.
CMIS’s level of detail is usually only available in sophisticated enterprise management software. CMIS’s real power, though, lies in the promise of subtle improvements over time, thanks to its built-in analysis feature. With instantaneous feedback and, more importantly, the ability to make permanent corrections in real time, making incremental improvements is a daily opportunity.
